Unit 3

This unit is about how communication is used in communities and their genre. 

The outcomes which I have completely met on Unit Three are the two. 

From this unit, I have learned how does a community/organization operates with its members and people. The communication between member would lead to the success in community. 

The submissions would include information of the community which is related my career interest.

The first outcome Students will be able to read and use scholarly texts to support their writing goals is addressed since we have used many texts from various resources in our assignments to explain the community which I selected for analysis. 

The practices and skills have helped me to learn about various contexts and have a better understanding. I have used quotes from Johns for unit 3 assignments. During the course, I have been using what I learned from various resources for assignments and improve my writing.

The first example would be from my Reading Response: Discourse Communities submission -

The discourse community utilizes and possess more than one genres the communicative promote themselves. For example, my ENC 1101 would be a community since many people present their ideas about writing and reading with their own skills. Each community is different from others since the purpose is different and people would have different interests and work. The quote "Concentrate on communities that are chosen, the groups with which people maintain ties because of their interests, their politics, or their professions (Johns.pg.501)" support my claim that communities are different due to people interests and work. So in conclusion people would be different communities in which their ideas and interests would be honored and practiced.

The second outcome Students will learn how to adapt to different writing contexts they need to address. This outcome was used in my writing in this unit. I had used various content to explain my ideology about community and how communication is used to improve or make the organization successful.

The second example would be from my Major Paper 3: Discourse Communities & Their Genres submission -

Companies tend to advertise their products using social media since it is a form of communication. Social media allows businesses to contact the target customers. Marketing is inexpensive which provides brands and its products an instant reach to customers. For these reasons, social media has proven to be one of the most effective channels to promote products online.

The major role of product promotion would be the media. Media is a tool for businesses to reach every person in the market. The use of social media which companies use to publish ads based on their products. According to “Where Is Social Media Marketing Headed?” website, marketing in media has exponentially increased every year. The use of digital marketing has increased the promotion and profit of businesses.

The main lesson I understood from this unit is how communities communicate. Organizations would have many target and goals which are handled by key members in it. Communication can happen in many ways which could have many effects. There would be many chances of changes in every stage of work. Communication or providing an information to others could have many ways. A person could speak directly, message or send a letter. Similarly an organization could present their agenda in form of mail. media, website, message and many others. 

I believe that from now on I would think before saying anything to anyone no matter where I am. One word can have many consequences. So, a work is equivalent to a weapon which must be used cautiously.
