Unit 2

This unit is about what rhetoric is and how it is used for communication in meaningful and strategic ways. It would happen in people's daily lives.

The outcomes which I have completely met on Unit Two are the three.

While working on this unit, I learned in this course has increased my understanding towards writing. I was able to analyze and understand the content. My approach towards the content I read has changed but the style of writing has not changed.

Everyone of my submission would only include my writing but also my way of communicating with others.

The first outcome Students will be able to read and use scholarly texts to support their writing goals is addressed since we have used many texts from various books and content in our assignments and peer reading activities. The practices and skills have helped me to learn about various contexts and have a better understanding. I have sued texts from Downs in my paper 2 for unit 2. During the course, I have been using what I learned from various texts to do the assignments and improved my writing.

The first example would be from my Reading Response: "Rhetoric: Making Sense of Human Interaction & Meaning-Making" -

"Downs stated that it wasn't not easy to understand Rhetoric. While I was reading through out the content, I have read a lot but it was not easy to understand the content. To be frank, I still can't completely understand what rhetoric means. The author explains how rhetoric helps readers to understand the aspect of writing. The pattern in which the content is presents is about what rhetoric is and how it influences writing. The quote "Another good place to begin is recognizing the ways rhetoric can help us. Since rhetoric helps us understand human communication, there are a variety of problems or questions that rhetoric can help us make sense of." (Downs pg. 460) explains in what way does rhetoric help people. It would make people realize their strength and weakness. It provides a self realization, from which people start to improve themselves to be a better person. The quote "rhetoric is the art of seeing the available means of persuasion in each case." (Downs pg. 459) is a summarizes what it is. An example in my life would be the time writing my literacy narrative I wasn't influenced by any scene or sight, but it was my thoughts which made me do my narrative. It was me and my words with me during that time. In conclusion rhetoric is guide which helps people to solve their issues and improve in life."

The second outcome Students will be able to describe and analyze writing processes in order to flexibly adapt them to support their goals has happened in many assignments. My Rhetorical Analysis for paper two and other assignments in the unit present my understanding and my analyses of writing process. I believed that my prior literacy experiences also helped me in my writing process.

The second example would be from my Major Paper 2: Rhetorical Analysis submission –

"A rhetorical event is something which happens during a confused situation in a person’s life. A person needs a solution to every problem in life. They tend to use their skills and knowledge to solve any issue they face. But not every problem can be solved easily. It is an art which persuades people in different forms which helps and improve on themselves. It is in different forms because it has different ways in which people experience it. It happens to most of the people but less notice it. The quote "rhetoric is ultimately about the ways that we make sense of and respond to the many signals in our experience of a moment-signals from other people, from our surroundings, and from our own bodies." (Downs pg. 463) supports my claim that rhetoric is in different forms."

The third outcome Students will learn how to adapt to different writing contexts they need to address is in my work. For every assignment, I had to read various content, analyze it, and write about my understanding towards it.  I have used various sources to learn provide evidence about my claims.

The third example would be from my What Is Rhetoric? submission –

"The texts have helped me to learn more about writing. I always had a felling that writing should not have any mistakes. That is why I have decided to proof read my writing before I present it to others. My thought of proof reading my work is not only followed by me. Bit is a step followed by many reputative writers around the world. The quote "we often forget, however, that successful writers aren't those who are simply able to write brilliant first drafts; often, the writing we encounter has been heavily revised and edited and is sometimes the result of a great deal of failure" (Brooke & Carr, 2016, pg. 62) supports my claim that writing should be reviewed before presenting it to the world. I believe that writing would have mistakes no matter how many it has been reviewed. Since it is viewed differently by people due to their opinions. There would a failure of any form in writing. The best way to make sure writing is perfect is to take the time needed, practice regularly and follow the writing process completely. I always go to different places to think about the content which I tend to write about. By thinking in different places would bring new thoughts and ideas which would develop our work. The quote "Practice can involve writing in different spaces, with different materials, and with different technologies. Some writers prefer to write at the same time of day in the same location; others like to change locations some like to compose with the same pencil or in the same writer's notebook." (Yancey, 2016, pg. 64) support's my idea of writing in different locations with techniques to have new changes and improvement in the work. Finally these text have increased my knowledge towards my writing and writing process."

The main lesson I understood from this unit is how communication is important. It's not only a way of communication but it one way to represent ourselves to the world. Since every person has a unique opinion and ideology which makes them different from others. Basically, our communication is a medium between us and the world which we live.

I believe that I have learned how communication is really important and how it can affect people's lives.

Unit 1

T his unit was about threshold concepts and literacy is important in writing. I learned a lot about writing from this unit. The outcomes which I have completely met on Unit One are the three.  Over the time during this unit, what I learned in this course has made my writing better. I was able to evaluate and understand the content well. The way in which I presented my writing has not changed but my approach towards the content has evolved and increased my skills. I have not only completed the assignments to reach the outcomes. In order for my work to be complete; I have included my experiences in my work.  The first outcome Students will be able to read and use scholarly texts to support their writing goals is addressed since we have used many texts from various books and content in our assignments and peer reading activities.  The practices and skills have helped me to learn about various contexts and have a better understanding. During the course, I have been using what I learned fro
